Just recently my youngest child, and only son, celebrated his 33rd birthday. It seemed incomprehensible to me that this precious (but very mischievous) little boy, who was my shadow for so many years, was now 33; the same age (most commonly believed by Biblical scholars) our Savior was when He atoned for the sins of the world!

I’m not sure why that comparison hit me like it did the morning of his birthday, but perhaps it was my recent study of the life and Atonement of our Savior that took my thoughts in that direction. But whatever the reason, it was a profound awakening to me how young the Savior was when He performed the greatest act of love … ever to be … for all of mankind and all creation!

As I thought about how I could somehow capture these tender thoughts and pass them on to my son, the following words seemed to flow like a peaceful river through my mind. Being that Easter is almost here, I thought I would share them. I truly stand all amazed!

Happy Easter to you and all those you love!

“33”

At 33 He marked the path and said, “Come follow me.”
At 33 He taught us that through Him we’d be set free.

At 33 He suffered pain beyond the human mind,
At 33 He gave His all that none be left behind.

At 33 He promised us that He would soon return,
At 33 He drank the cup that crushed eternal doom.

At 33 His life He gave to hang upon a cross,
At 33 His life He gave to pay the bitter cost.

At 33 His power as God did raise Him from the grave,
At 33 He did all this for you and me to save.

So may we in our daily walk take pause and ner’ forget
Our Brother, Lord and Savior King for us the price has met.
